As far as I understood it doesn't matter if the account is terminated or not. DW basically just copies the content that is already there. So links are taken as they are (meaning in the case you mentioned, they would link directly to the LJ account of that person).
Of course, entries that link to a user's journal that's been purged wouldn't work, but that's the same on LJ.
I guess the easiest would be to just try and see what works and what doesn't. In case that fics cannot be transferred, I was already wondering if it were possible to start an archive kind of thing like we used to have yeaaaaaaaars ago (I think the other Stef maintained it back then). It's long deleted, so it would be a lot of work to then go all the way back, but sure as hell worth it.
