Today I woke up to the very sad news that David Bowie had passed away aged 69. I'm not Bowie's biggest fan, but I love his music and I had a period over 2013 in which I listened to him compulsively. His work has changed the face of music and I'm sure it will never be the same thanks to him.

I wanted to pay tribute to him somehow and I can't think of a better way than gifting him the only talent I believe I have: my words. Years ago, in 2013, I wrote a little story for an English assignment inspired by his song Starman. Today I have decided to post it, my humble way of thanking him for what he has given to the world. You can read it on AO3 but please, take in mind it's very sad.

There's a starman waiting in the sky
He'd like to come and meet us
But he thinks he'd blow our minds
There's a starman waiting in the sky
He's told us not to blow it
'Cause he knows it's all worthwhile
He told me:
Let the children lose it
Let the children use it
Let all the children boogie
